Liverpool City Council is fully committed to partnership working, and to reducing crime / increasing community safety in line with the corporate and partnership vision, aims and priorities.
Liverpool City Council is a statutory partner in the Citysafe, Crime & Disorder Reduction Partnership which is working to reduce crime and disorder and increase community safety in Liverpool. The work of partners has increased with the introduction of new statutory requirements including, for example, development of partnership responses to tackle violent crime including domestic violence, alcohol related harm and the safer night-time economy.
The Domestic Violence Support Officer will assist the principle Violent Crime Reduction Manager with the development of delivery plans for specific violent crime issues including plans for domestic violence, sexual violence and tackling alcohol related violence and promoting a safer night-time economy.
An important aspect of the postholders’ work will be to ensure effective implementation of the City Council’s statutory duties – particularly Section 17 of the Crime & Disorder Act 1998.
The successful candidates will have experience of servicing and supporting successful multi-agency working and programme management including monitoring relevant multi-agency projects and initiatives. They will have a working knowledge and understanding of issues relating to crime reduction and community safety and will be experienced in inter-agency working and liaison with a wide range of representatives including Elected Members and voluntary & community representatives. They will possess excellent communication skills, have experience of working in a multi-agency team environment and be able to organise and prioritise work effectively under pressure (often to tight timescales). They will be committed to promoting equal opportunities and the City Council’s Equality Scheme.
The posts are politically restricted post under the terms of the 1989 Local Government and Housing Act. This dictates that the postholders must seek the Council’s permission before taking up any additional appointments or positions. Police Checks and Clearance are also necessary in respect of this post.
